Assassin’s Creed Rogue – soulless filler or the best game in the series?

Assassin’s Creed Rogue was deprived of attention from the release. The game came out at once on the seventh and on the then -relevant eighth generation of consoles at the same time from Unity, which pulled all the attention to herself.

Despite the fact that the game was accepted quite coolly, I expected to get a lot of good emotions from it, because, firstly, I, however,, like many others, intrigued the opportunity to look at the confrontation between the brotherhood and the order from the Templar, and secondly, my impressions of the games of the series often vary with the opinion of many other people. I like Assassin’s Creed III, despite the fact that many criticized her for the plot and, in particular for the main character. At the same time, in many ways I do not share delight about the same fourth part, although I understand what she was loved for, and I myself recognize the coolness of the same plot or sea battles, but in many other aspects the game did not suit me.

I launched Rogue immediately after Black Flag and, although I did not expect total changes in the game process from the game, but hoped at least for high -quality work on errors and correcting all (or at least most) jambs that spoiled my pastime in the fourth AC. In the end, I wanted to get just a high -quality game, which I will go thirty hours and leave from there not regretting that I spent time on it.

Whether my expectations were acquitted? Is Assassin’s Creed Rogue deservedly forgotten, like no one needs filler, or is it the best game in a series that has not been lucky to go out at the wrong time and on the wrong platform?

Plot

And you remember Batman: Arkham Origins? The association between Black Flag -> Rogue and Arkham City -> Arkham Origins will still not release me. A minimum of changes, which is why it seems that Rogue and Origins are more likely adds than full-fledged continuations, folk love for Black Flag and Arkham City and, conversely, mostly oblivion in their sequels. Because of this, I could not help but draw a parallel between these games in my head. I will say right away, Origins I went very much, moreover, I liked it more than City and ASYLUM, which allowed her to put her in second place in my personal top of the games of the Batman: Arkham series. But why?

Arkham Origins is in many ways an ordinary reskin Arkham City, and you can call it a full -fledged new part only with a small stretch. Gameplay from the previous game, an open world from the previous game, even a large number of villains migrated from the previous game. But the answer to the question of where my sympathy for Origins came from is very simple – the plot.

It was the plot that became for me that why I call this game the second best part of the series. Let’s start with the present, the benefit is everything more or less definitely. The line of our time is a complete failure.

After Black Flag, I thought that the plot of modernity is worse than there could not be. But it turns out. If AC IV tried to create something really remotely reminiscent of the plot, even tried to prescribe and support the intrigue some turns, then in Rogue everyone did not care about it.

That in Black Flag, that in Rogue, a protagonist is an ordinary blank who has no voice or personality, and even in the game itself you are called not “guy”, not “hey, you” and not even “salag”, but simply a “blanch”. Of course, self -irony is good, the self -irony from Ubisoft is even better, but still this does not cancel the lack. As in the previous part, playing for the depersonalized hero is absolutely uninteresting and if in Black Flag the ABSTERGO ENTERTAINMENT was entertaining to wander due to new locations and curiosity that forced you to consider every corner of the secret of the Templars, then in Rogue the same locations are bored with the same locations on the same locations.

Although, in order to get to this very data, you need computers with this information by means of the simplest puzzle, which very quickly bothers.

I do not like modernity and from a visual point of view. In this sense, she roared me back in the previous part, but now the characters began to look as if twice worse. I don’t know, perhaps, the effect of the ominous valley is really present in this part of the game, or maybe I just turned me off so much from the plot that I began to see the rest of the aspects only in a negative way.

For example, in modern times I do not like faces, unlike the main campaign. At first I thought that this could be due to the fact that the main plot of the game passes with a third person, and the modern appendage is from the first. But even in the history of Shay, the characters are often demonstrated closely, which does not cause me absolutely no rejection.

It is unlikely that the textures are less of high quality in the present tense than in the past (although I do not exclude this option, but, unfortunately, I can’t say definitely), so most likely the effect of the ominous valley visited me due to the forms of the heads of the characters, which were made a little less naturally than in the main plot campaign.

Also, the quality of animations did not suit me at all, they are somewhat slightly unnatural, and this feeling again intensifies against the background of animations from the memories. And this can be traced not only in gameplay, but also in KAT scenes. Despite the fact that, apparently, in the history of the blanch and in the history of Shai, they are made on the game engine, in the plot of the first they are felt an order of magnitude worse.

By the way, moving along the past line, I sometimes experienced a cring during dialogues, but in the line of the present this unpleasant feeling was almost permanent.

What about the plot, then everything is pretty rotten. You play for the employee Abstergo Entertainment, which studies fragments of memory. After some time, you accidentally activate some kind of virus that disables the system of the company. Now you, together with security guards and, part -time by the Templars, from the head corporation will have to rake all this chaos.

But of course, getting rid of viruses is not the only task of the Templars. The ultimate goal of studying Shey’s memoirs …-Search for something in common between Assassins and Templars? In order to send these data to modern assassins later? To, I don’t even know, drop their moral spirit? At least I understood it. And as you see, these goals are quite vague.

We realized that under the slightest threat, the assassins actually want not freedom, but order.

It is good that modernity at least occupies a very small timing (although, probably, this is in many ways the reason for such a low quality of execution), and most of the time you will spend the history of Shay Patrick Kormak.

In general, it is clear what was the original idea. Look at the conflict through the prism of a member of the order, show that in the battle of the ideals of the Assassins and Templars, everything is far from so unambiguous that this is not just a war of good with evil. The idea is good, but the implementation disappeared.

To begin with, they show us a worldview of not a formed Templar, like Heetem, for example, but a green boy who cannot decide on the side.

It seems that he asks the correct questions, indicates the contradictions in the ideology of the fraternity, but it is noticeable that he is not dedicated to all secrets. He does not know much about the brotherhood, what about the Order. Because of this, we are very little told about the essence of the Templars, about their goals, about their methods, and t. D. And in this regard, the game is very inferior to the same Assassin’s Creed III, which indicated the lips of Hatem and the failure of the utopia of the Assassins and, thanks to the same hatem, to grayness in the battle of two secret communities.

Moreover, Rogue screenwriters decided not to go to the other side of the barricade, but simply change these sides in places. Now we have white and fluffy Templars who want to protect the whole world, and the Assassins, on the contrary, are universal evil, which the same world wants to destroy.

But here’s what in the plot of Assassin’s Creed Rogue is really ambiguous and many causes mixed emotions-this is the main conflict of the whole game, or rather the reasons because of which it was untied.

Look, it all started with the fact that Shei unintentionally destroyed Lisbon, after which he accused Achilles, who allegedly knew everything. The main claim of many is that there were simply no games if these two discussed the current situation. And this is understandable. When you look at the story globally, it seems petty enough, because there could be a lot to avoid a lot, if two characters sat at the very beginning, listened to each other and came to some reasonable conclusion. Such a conflict tie in many ways depreciates the plot of the game, making it even a little ridiculous.

In addition, the accusations of the neck were built mainly on the fact that this was already happening in Haiti. And the fact is that the events in Haiti in the game really do not say anything, and therefore, by the time of the quarrel, the player does not fully realize the whole situation and, firstly, cannot fully understand who is right in this situation, and there are right at all. And, secondly, it again depreciates the conflict due to the fact that Shay’s accusations begin to seem uniform and inappropriate. Yes, you can draw information about the Haiti from notes, dialogs on the ship and dialogue between Achilles and Achilles. However, all this a player can easily miss the ears, and therefore it was necessary to say this so that no one would miss the moment and so that the player fully realized the scale of the tragedy.

Otherwise, the plot is quite trivial, and I do not have a desire to scold or praise it especially. Unless the phrase of Shai “Luck is a myth” caused a small feeling of Spanish shame, because it was pronounced too often and sometimes not very to the place. It feels like the scriptwriters in the TK prescribed the number of use of this phrase, and they tried with all their might to stuff it wherever possible.

As a result, the plot of Rogue disappointed me. It is not remembered and definitely does not work with its task. The plot here is so inconspicuous, invaluating to its characters and not the “turns” that I thought that only half of the game had passed, while the final mission had already begun.

The game does not give special emotions and strong moments during its passage. You can also find a special ship of the Royal Fleet, which is loaded with a much large number of supplies than other vessels at sea, though I am not sure of the unique feature of the Atlantic, perhaps this can be found in River Valley, but at least I did not come across this valley with this.
