Butch worked for one of the state’s first intensive outpatient programs in Jackson, TN and the Jackson Area Council on Alcoholism. During this time, he developed two pilot addiction programs in the Greater West Tennessee area. In addition to working for Cumberland Heights, Dr. Sledge is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. When I first met you, I wasn’t sure how I felt. I liked the way you made me feel but I didn’t like how I was around you. I acted differently around my friends, I ditched school to be with you, I even spent my hard-earned money on you. It’s been a long time since I left you and that graveyard; it’s been around a year. I still despise you for what you’ve done to me and what you’ve forced me to do to the people I care about.

I want things, I want different feelings, I want changes in others, I want, I want, I want. I believe that desire is no different for anyone – for people with addiction and for those without.
